3 Things I Liked Today

I listen to quite a bit of music, and to be honest, most of it either sucks pretty bad or is amazingly uninteresting. But now and then cool things come along that need them some sharing, so here are a few from today.

First up is a band out of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. They’re called Peasant, and they consist of one man by the name of Damien DeRose. This song comes from his (their?) debut album, Shady Retreat, which is out now. It has kind of a folky vibe to it and is pretty easy to listen to, but I wouldn’t exactly call it straight up folk. I’m not sure what I’d call it, so I’ll let you listen and come up with your own description.Peasant – The End.

Next up we have some Canadian content courtesy of Nova Scotia’s Old Man Luedecke. Unlike the last track, this I have no problem labelling straight up country folk. And while I’m labelling it things, let me go ahead and label it catchy as all hell.

Favourite lyric: “I have a friend Jamie and he sang to me this verse,
He said, ” I’m so far behind that I think I’m first”

You can find this on the album My Hands are on Fire and Other Love Songs, available now at a music outlet near someone who may or may not be you.Old Man Luedecke – The Rear Guard.

And just for fun, here’sa video of Stevie Ray Vaughan playing Little Sister and a cover of Superstition at Austin City Limits in 1989.It’s good.

More to come when I find something I don’t hate.
