The Rays Will Strike Out, To Morrow

Were it not for that no good bastard Evan Longoria getting a grounder past Aaron Hill with 2 outs in the 9th, Brandon Morrow would haveno hit the Rays this afternoon. As it was he still pitched an amazing game, striking out 17 and walking only 2.

If you had told me at the start of the season that one of our pitchers was going to throw a 1 hit shutout against the Rays, in a million freakin years I would not have guessed it would be Morrow. He’s come a hell of a long way since the start of the year. He used to be one of the guys that would make me curse management and the radio on a regular basis, but now when I hear he’s starting I think to myself that we’ve got a good chance to win or at least keep it interesting. I’m sure right now the Mariners are kicking themselves for not knowing what they had in him, but I think it’s fair to say that a lot of people didn’t know.

I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here, but with the Jays doing better than they were supposed to this year and after the week they’ve had, I have to wonder if we might have a contender on our hands sooner than we thought, maybe even next year. Man, it’s nice to have reasons to be excited about baseball.

And thank you, Mr. Shoe Thief, for the post title.
