It’s a sad fact of life that not all marriage proposals are going to go well. Yes, now and then, the answer is going to be no.
Such was the case last Thursday afternoon at a Burger Stop restaurant in Pico Rivera, California, when Francisco Hernandez,, 22, proposed to a woman only identified as Stacy. Even though he had gone to the trouble of writing “Stacy Will You Marry Me?” on the back window of his car, it wasn’t enough.
But instead of taking his lumps like a man and perhaps going for a few pints or spending some time alone to figure out where he went wrong, police say Hernandez decided that the best thing he could do would be toattempt to run down young Stacy with the will you marry me car.
Hernandez allegedly drove onto the sidewalk through some bushes and into the restaurant parking lot, narrowly missing the woman, Berg said. Hernandez then allegedly tried to drive away from the scene with two flat tires.
He left the car and ran off, but witnesses pointed out his car to deputies, officials said.
He was arrested a short time later and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly walking down the street carrying a bouquet of flowers. Hey, why not? You never know when the next Stacy might come along.
