Black Friday Body Count: Some People Try Shoplifting. It Goes Poorly

I don’t know why more people don’t try the shoplifting thing on Black Friday. I mean it’s not exactly known as a time of year when security is at its best, so you’d think it might be a little easier provided nobody beats you up and takes what you’re taking.

I don’t know if that’s what these guys were thinking, but if it was, the logic, such as it is, is fairly sound. But unfortunately for them they picked the one place that actually had police around and things didn’t end so well.

Two officers chased two suspects fleeing from the Romeoville, Ill., store after receiving reports the men were shoplifting from the store on Black Friday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The suspects got into a Pontiac Sunfire and attempted to drive away while one of the officers was partially caught in the vehicle, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The officer was dragged by the vehicle until another officer fired shots, injuring the driver in the shoulder. The injured officer hurt his shoulder, and both he and the injured suspect were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sun-Times said.

I had to look up what Kohl’s is. I don’t think we have those here. We have Coles which is a bookstore, but not Kohl’s the department store. Somebody more familiar with Canadian and American stores needs to let me know what our equivalent would be. I’m curious.

  1. Kohls is a mid-price range department store with great sales. We have one here. I’ve wandered in there a few times but a little high end for us. Good value for the money though for the younger folks and very popular; at least here.
