There Is Such A Thing As Decent Country Rap

So I just listened to that awful Colt Ford and John Michael Montgomery song I posted back in 2010. It’s every bit as wretched as I remember it, in case you were wondering. Also in case you were wondering, there’s a reason I put myself through it again that has nothing to do with me hating myself. I did it because I just discovered a band called Gangstagrass and there song “Nowhere To run” and I wanted to compare.

Is it the best thing I’ve ever heard? No. But if country rap is going to be a thing, these folks have the right idea. If you can keep an open mind you might come away feeling like I did, that in it’s own way it kinda works and could easily grow on you with repeat listens. Hell, I’ve already caught myself singing along with the chorus and I’ve only played it once.
