I still don’t like the idea of a two hour NXT every week, but I’ve been thinking about it and I have an idea that maybe could make it a little less bad.
Stop running 205 Live as its own show and integrate all of the cruiserweights and their belt into NXT. Right away you solve one problem because all of those poor guys will no longer have to kill themselves in good to great matches in front of crowds that couldn’t possibly care less about them after a long night of TV tapings. The Full Sale crowd would be far more receptive to them which will make them come across as a bigger, cooler deal.
I know I know, the NXT roster is already bigger than it maybe needs to be, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Since the bookers there are largely competent, they should be able to build a few coherent main feuds while at the same time keeping a few other talents visible on TV and also, and this is important, cycling people in and out so that we’re not constantly seeing the same matches again and again until none of them matter. Two or three cruiserweight matches on each show could really help things stay fresh.
