London police apprehended a sword-wielding man after he was reportedly swinging the blade at the public, asking them to stay six feet away from him
Police were called to the area of Oxford Street and Wharncliffe Road North at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday following reports of a man carrying a samurai sword. When police arrived, the man was located a short distance away near Essex Street, swinging the sword.
After verbal de-escalation by police, the 43-year-old man was apprehended and he taken to the hospital under the Mental Health Act.
The sword, a 12 inch knife and a small folding knife were seized. No one was injured, and hopefully some Coronavirus was prevented.
