The Family Reunion Of My Dreams Is Not The Family Reunion Of My Dreams!

I had a dream that I thought I should write down because it was short, to the point, and simultaneously funny and disturbing. In the dream, we walked into a family gathering, the first one we were able to have in a while. We were all so happy to see each other, and there were many hugs and greetings. But then we started noticing how big people had gotten, and some of the people we expected to be kids were all grown up and had gotten married. There were many awkward exchanges of “so…um…who do you know here? Oh! You’re his wife?” And then it was over. I woke up wondering just what that was supposed to mean, besides the obvious. Was it supposed to be a cartoonish exaggeration of how much time has passed? Or was it expressing what some hidden part of me is afraid is the future? My dreams have predicted the future a few times. Let’s not have this one be one of them that comes true.
