We were watching the noon news, and the little Crime Stoppers crime of the week thingy came on. At the end, they were listing the many and varied ways you can leave anonymous tips, that stay anonymous until it’s time to get the reward, that is. Anyway, you can call their old tip line, or you can leave a tip online, or you can text the info to them. This got me to thinking. I would hate to be the poor shmo who had to read, and try to decipher, texted tips about crimes. Just think of how little clarity and how much letespeak is in most people’s text messages. Now imagine that person is describing what they saw during a crime. Yuck! Talk about a recipe for confusion. I wonder how many texts have to be discarded because they make no sense.
