Here We Stand

Ever since the day I walked into a record store, heard
Costello Music
playing and bought it on the spot, I’ve been telling anybody who’ll listen and a few people who won’t how good
The Fratellis
are.

Well, now their second album,
Here We Stand
has come out, so I figured it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t tell everybody how it was.

The answer to the how is it question is sort of complicated. It’s a good album and I’m happy with it, but I’m still disappointed. Costello Music it isn’t, but to be fair, not much is. In my opinion that was far and away the best start to finish album to come along in years, and I haven’t heard anything released since that even comes close.

That’s not to say that the new one doesn’t have it’s fair share of greatness, because it does. “My Friend John”, “Shameless” and “Tell Me A Lie” come immediately to mind, and there are quite a few others that I’m almost positive will grow on me after a few more listens and a few more drinks.

Another thing that’s upsetting me right now is that I just realized that my version of the album is missing a song. The website lists 12 tracks while I’ve only got 11. I don’t know who’s to blame, but whoever decided that we Canadians didn’t need to hear
Jesus Stole My Baby
can go fuck himself long and hard, preferably while listening to music not nearly as cool as either Fratellis album.

I’m not sure how to end this, so I’ll let you know that if you need me I’ll be tooling around the internet looking for a song, and then I’ll go on my merry way. Have a good afternoon, and buy this album.
