I’m Taking It Easy When I Take…Out The Trusty Gun

An Ontario Liberal backbencher is calling on the federal and provincial governments to pass stricter laws to prevent violence on public transit after a string of incidents involving Toronto’s bus and subway system.

Mike Colle is proposing a bill that would impose a fine of up to $50,000 for anyone carrying a weapon onto a public transit vehicle.

Full story.

Two problems here:

1. The type of person that would walk on to a bus and start shooting at people or throwing punches doesn’t strike me as the type of person who cares much about laws.

2. Have you seen some of the people who ride the bus? Some days I’m not sure if the entire group of riders on whatever bus I’m on has $50,000 between them, so how is one person ever going to come up with it?
