Greetings From KW

Well…we’re here. We’ve packed up Vomit Comet World HQ and moved it from Guelph to Kitchener. We’ve been here for about a week now, and to say things haven’t exactly gone smoothly would be quite the understatement. If you follow Carin and I on Twitter or have talked to us you might have a bit of an idea of what’s happening, but long story short, our movers were the dirt worst, we didn’t have the phone service we were supposed to have on Saturday until Tuesday because Rogers Home Phone breaks things for everybody who doesn’t use it…and I could go on and on and on. At least everybody we’ve met from the new building and the neighbourhood we haven’t a clue how to get around in has been nice.

People keep asking me if I’m going to write about the movers. The answer is yes I am, and odds are I’m going to bury the living shit out of them for what they did and are continuing to try to do to us. I’m just not going to do it yet. Things aren’t resolved, and I don’t want to say too much and put anything in jeopardy just in case things have to go further than we’d like them to have to go, if you get my drift.

To give you an idea of how well things have gone, the highlight of this entire thing has been dealing with Rogers. Yes, the same Rogers that cut the phone line and prevented Bell from being able to turn it on without sending a tech. Their internet guy was on time and really nice, and I’m sure he’d have been a good TV guy too…if we had a TV. Thanks, shitty moving company. They were also nice enough to cut us a wee bit of a break on our cable TV bill after they heard about the unfortunate fate of the television, something they didn’t have to do but is very much appreciated.

But even Rogers isn’t blameless. I love the idea of a dedicated moving specialist who will help you set up your services in your new home and make any changes you need. It should save you a whole lot of regular Rogers headache. I say should because it doesn’t really work so well when they reassign your dedicated moving specialist to another department in the dead of night before your move is complete. I hope his reassignment was a promotion, but for christ’s sake, let him finish the cases he has on the go before he moves on up.

I think that’s all for now. I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that we’re alive, settling in and doing mostly ok. Oh, and that we haven’t shut the place down. I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 weeks since one of us has said something. Time flies when you’re having whatever the complete and utter opposite of fun is, I guess. I’ll try to post some fun things soon.
