Eat Up!

Gill spent some time with her family recently, during which they did quite a bit of eating, apparently. Nothing wrong with that.

If you have been a reader of the website you’ll know that I love eating, cooking, and trying new and fun foods. From a Dublin style pub to a four star restaurant, here are three places I’ve been lately.

  • 1 The Potato Factory – If you enjoy pub food you’ll love this little Irish pub. Last Monday after seeing a movie with my mom and some friends we went to this restaurant. I must say the atmosphere was slightly different from what you’d expect from a pub. There were also unique food choices, pubs have come along way from fish and chips, bangers and Mash, and home brew. I had chicken quesadillas and fries.
  • 2 Miso Hot – Yes, you read that right! On Tuesday my mom, a friend of hers from the neighborhood she grew up in, and I went to this little taste of Japan and Korea. I am so happy that finally there’s a Japanese place in the town I grew up in. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but like I have said, never underestimate those holes-in-the-walls, they often have the best stuff. Miso Hot didn’t disappoint. I had their signature miso soup, tofu and seaweed soup, followed by tempura vegetables and some of the best yam rolls around. I was full!
  • 3 The Mill – Saturday was my mom’s birthday, so we decided to take a walk up the street to a four star restaurant. The Mill is best known for its muscles, but for those of you restricted by allergies or in my case religion there are plenty of delicious options to choose from. It is fairly dark, so one who has glasses should bring them. I had chicken mushroom penne. It was delicious on many platforms. The chicken was grilled to perfection, there were several types of mushrooms, and the sauce was there, but not imposing.

Question

What’s the best food you’ve ever made, or the best restaurant you’ve ever been to?
