When I was a kid, you couldn’t turn on a TV in Canada without seeing Dave Nichol in ads pushing the new President’s Choice Memories of something or other. He was everywhere…until he disappeared. I can’t remember when those commercials suddenly stopped (I want to say mid 90’s), but it’s been a long time. But even though he really hasn’t been associated with the public face of President’s Choice in forever, there’s at least a couple generations of us who automatically think of him whenever the name comes up.
Since he’s one of those names you don’t hear much anymore though, I was kind of surprised to wake up this morning to news that he had died. It’s not noted what got him, so until I hear otherwise I’ll assume he either died of being 73 or of one too many Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookies. Those things are really good, by the way. Now I want one. Maybe I’ll have it with a can of that PC fake Coke they made, which was some of the best around. President’s Choice (1991)
