It’s things like this that make me wonder why I bother getting up every morning.
A man was hit by lightning and killed during Tuesday night’s violent thunderstorm in Toronto.
Witnesses said the 29-year-old man was struck while taking shelter under a tree at Christie Pits in central Toronto at about 8 p.m. An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday. Christie Pits is a popular park that has soccer fields for kids, a pool and a baseball diamond.
How does somebody last nearly 30 years on this planet without knowing that hiding under a tree during a storm isn’t the smartest idea? Seriously, didn’t most of us learn that in like grade 1 or 2, maybe even before that? I’ve known it for so long that I can’t even remember when I found out or from who.
But I guess if there’s a bright side to this it would be the slight increase in the city’s collective IQ. Natural selection 1, dumbasses lacking the most basic of survival skills 0.
