I know this is India, and I know people worship differently there, but really, is it ever necessary to cut out your tongue and offer it up to a deity? Ramveer Singh Baghel decided it was, and did. When people found him bleeding from the mouth and pointing to the feet of a giant statue where his tongue lay, they didn’t either consider him a fool or rush to get him medical attention. No no, they called him a god and held a procession in his honour. Ok then. He still hasn’t gotten any medical care because “the devotees aren’t ready to take him to a hospital.” A fine way to treat a god. I guess they’re thinking if he’s a god, he shouldn’t need any medical care.
