When I was a kid, I thought that Yankee Doodle was just some stupid song that some adult came up with to keep us busy around campfires for a few minutes. At some point I figured out that the tune dated back at least a couple centuries and had something to do with war, but I never bothered figuring out anything beyond that because the words were still silly and I didn’t really care that much, if we’re being completely honest with each other here. So all of that said I have no idea why I clicked on this video, but I’m kind of glad I did because it turns out that all the macaroni and feathers nonsense isn’t exactly nonsense after all.
I’m not sure what I’ll do with this information, but I’m always amazed by what comes in handy during a conversation so I’m sure I’ll be able to put it to use somewhere.
