This is a pretty powerful video. If you’ve seen the Idle No More coverage on the news or been held up by one of the protests and haven’t understood it or even worse, felt the need to shit on the damned Indians responsible, you need to watch it. It might not change you, but it’s worth a try.
It’s a pretty simplified explanation of why things among Native populations are the way they are and I think it really only scratches the surface, but ask yourself this: Isn’t it more than enough? If a group of invaders were to come to Canada this year, take everything you own by force and then pack your children off to institutions where generations of them would be abused in every unspeakable way you can imagine and then some while your government did nothing to help you and actually covered it up, wouldn’t you be a little messed up for a while? Yeah, I’ll bet you would. It’s not one of those things you just dust yourself off and move on from. If you don’t think the rest of Canada owes these people at the very least a bit of patience and a helping hand, you’re insane.
