If You Still Wonder Why There Is Rage, Here’s A Clue

I have no words of my own about what keeps happening between police and people who are black. George Floyd is just the last in a long string. Listen to the song up there. Do you want to know something terrifying? I have heard multiple versions of this song, and in each one, they list many many different names. Do you want to know what else? I don’t recognize all the names! The same goes for the embedded Facebook post below. It shouldn’t be this easy to come up with this many examples. I don’t know what else to do but cry. Cry, and hope that the failures of police officers that put knees on his neck for 7 minutes go to jail for a long long time. Believe me, there is a part of me that is sure that they won’t, see King, Rodney, but the rest of me really wants that part to be wrong.

Black people are so tired. 😓We can’t go jogging (#AmaudArbery). We can’t relax in the comfort of our own homes…

  1. Every time I see a case like this it’s sad, but this one really hits a nerve. At least when you shoot someone it’s a split second act. It happens, it’s over. Maybe you can try to argue that you did what you thought you had to do in the moment. Those arguments often end up looking pretty flimsy, but at least they exist. But this? There’s just no justifying this. There was every opportunity for the officer to stop or for one of his fellow officers to stop him. This took time. It was deliberate. If this isn’t a murder, nothing is a murder.

    1. First of all it was nine minutes I’m pretty sure, not seven. Second, you guys know Alex is black right? Like I’m not trying to be stupid, but apparently dad didn’t realize he was black until today. But we know somebody whose family has been directly affected by racism. His brotherhood gasoline poured on him and then was set on fire for being black ones. So it’s really not that big of a separation.
